About Nicole Bauer, MA, MFT, LPC
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina (12778).
I am extensively trained in marriage and family therapy techniques and treatment modalities. I specialize in working with adolescents, teens and adults dealing with ADHD, anxiety and depression.
I specialize in ADHD as Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider. I am also extensively trained to help people overcome trauma and the impacts previous difficult experiences can have on one’s life using EMDR therapy. Whether you’ve experienced a specific traumatic event or simply cannot break free from certain negative core beliefs, EMDR can help you take back your power and give you hope for a better future.
I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. In my experience with community and facility based mental health services, I have worked with youth, families, individuals, schools, law enforcement, hospitals and community members to create a collaborative environment for change. I enjoy the time I am able to spend working with my clients at Living Waters Counseling to help them navigate life’s challenges, build their “tool box” and achieve the goals they have established for themselves.
I am committed to equipping my clients with the tools necessary to reclaim their individual voice, let go of past hurts, and make meaningful changes to get the life they want. Each client’s goals are unique and deserve a therapeutic approach tailored specifically to their strengths and needs. So, together, we will identify specific goals and based on those goals, I will adjust my techniques to best meet the client’s individual needs. When counseling children and adolescents, I feel that parent participation and input is vital to the child’s success in counseling and I like to remind parents that they are the biggest instrument of change in their child’s life. In my work with couples and families, we work from a strengths based perspective and build upon those skills and strengths to increase understanding, respect and warmth.
